International cooperation for sustainable wastewater management: G.E.O.S. leads study for regeneration and purification and plans construction of a wastewater treatment plant

G.E.O.S. has taken on an important assignment to protect the environment and ensure the pollution control of rivers and groundwater in Bulgaria. The kick-off meeting for the "Eleshnitsa feasibility study" project in Bulgaria took place at the end of January 2024. The project focuses on a feasibility study for the construction of water purification plants for uranium removal from mine water and a new plant for the regeneration of uranium-laden ion exchangers in Eleshnitsa.

G.E.O.S. is leading the project and is responsible for the development of the technology and the planning of the technological equipment. The work is being carried out on behalf of the Bulgarian state, represented by the company Ecoengineering-RM, and in co-operation with the local company Inoplan. The project marks an important step forward in the field of environmental technology and strengthens international co-operation.

At the first project meeting in Sofia, the work tasks and a joint approach were agreed, milestones were defined and the locations of the future plants were visited. G.E.O.S. was represented by Dr Roland Mayer and Anna Belousova.

G.E.O.S. has been active in the field of environmental technology for many years and has already developed numerous solutions for sustainable wastewater management systems both nationally and internationally. In co-operation with their Bulgarian colleagues, the environmental experts from Halsbrücke are particularly committed to protecting and keeping water clean and protecting the population from radioactive exposure.
