Planning and construction supervision of the leach pipeline
Menteroda-Wipperdorf (Thuringia)
G.E.O.S. was commissioned by the company Lausitzer und Mitteldeutsche Bergbau-Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (LMBV) to plan the construction and operation of an approx. 13 kilometre long leach pipeline.
G.E.O.S. Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH planned the construction and operation of an approx. 13 kilometre long leach pipeline from the Menteroda leach pond to the Wipperdorf central leach pond on behalf of the Kali-Spat-Erz operation of LMBV. After approval for the construction of the pipeline was granted by the responsible mining authority (Thuringian State Office for the Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation), the planning was pushed forward until ready for construction or award of contract.
In addition to the technical requirements according to the Pipeline Ordinance, the demanding design of the project had to take into account the nature conservation, water and archaeological concerns of the 3 Thuringian districts affected by the pipeline route. In addition, numerous property issues had to be clarified and community concerns had to be taken into account during the planning process.
In November 2018, the preparation of the workspace for the future pipeline route began with the tree felling/clearing. At the beginning of May 2019, the technical work for the construction of pipeline crossings by means of controlled horizontal drilling was started. G.E.O.S. is overseeing the construction work as local construction supervisor and is keeping the object documentation. According to current planning, the construction work will last until the end of 2020.
