Preservation of old mine in Neudorf (Ore Montains, Germany)
G.E.O.S. starts with construction supervision for preservation of old mine works
In March 2023, the G.E.O.S. branch office WISUTEC started with the construction supervision for the safekeeping of an old mine in the exploration area of Neudorf. The planning of the construction measure was also already carried out by WISUTEC.
Shaft no. 327 and 11 other nearby old mine workings will be preserved over a period of 12 months. The shaft will be opened up and then a concrete plug will be installed at a depth of about 20 metres. A challenge will be the installation of a large shoring box in the huge breakage cone to reach the actual shaft crossing. The other mine works will be secured by means of concrete seals close to the surface.
WISUTEC has been planning and accompanying rehabilitation measures in the former Wismut uranium ore mine for many years. In addition to this shaft preservation, adits and overburden are preserved in the area.
