ReMiningPlus research project launched
Kick-off meeting for the BMBF collaborative project " Facility for the recovery of valuable materials from sulphide flushing dumps and their environmentally safe remediation (ReMiningPlus)" - G.E.O.S. coordinates project
The BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research) joint project "ReMiningPlus", coordinated by G.E.O.S., started with the online kick-off meeting on 9 December 2021. As part of the BMBF programme "WIR! - Change through Innovation in the Region", the five collaborative project partners want to develop a modular process for the biotechnological extraction of valuable metals and subsequent separation of pollutants and test it in practical use at the flush dump site of an old mine in Freiberg (Davidschachthalde).
G.E.O.S. is working with the following partners:
- Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology
- SAXONIA Site Development and Management Company Ltd.
- GEOPARK Erlebnis Tharandter Wald e.V.
- Kaden & Döring OHG.
The pilot plant is to be built by April 2023 and subsequently operated.
The project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research under the funding code 03WIR1905A and supervised by the project management organisation Karlsruhe.
