Hosting of the geo-mapping guide of the Work Group Geology

The G.E.O.S. branch WISUTEC develops and hosts the web pages for the Geo Mapping Manual of the Work Group Geology of the Directors of the National Geological Services and the Federal-State Committee for Soil Research (BLA-GEO).

One focus of the website is the provision of geological term collections and definitions. The aim of the register is to achieve a transnational unification and standardisation of terms. On the one hand, the terms are presented to the users as a website and on the other hand, they are offered via fixed URLs for digital processing in third-party systems via web interfaces. The database system used for this purpose enables the creation of hierarchical structures, versioning and secure storing of the data.

Another area comprises the stratigraphic tables of the geological services. In different levels of detail, the federal states present information on the respective stratigraphic sequences.

As updating and further development of the portal progressed, WISUTEC added further subject areas and enhanced them for the benefit of the users. These include, among others, a list of geoscientific collections, the chronostratigraphic tables, the links to INSPIRE code lists and the extended representation of loose rocks.

The portal provides technical support to the Work Group Geology regarding the coordination, updating and creation of the contents. All the functions mentioned are provided within the basic scope of the portal software DNN and with software modules developed by WISUTEC.
