Pollutant Distribution Map of the Muskau Horseshoe Folds

G.E.O.S. was commissioned by the administrative district of Spree-Neiße to produce pollutant distribution maps for sub-area 5 of the Muskau Horseshoe Folds

The complex structure and varying geology of the Muskau Horseshoe Folds make it impossible to determine regional (large-scale) environmental parameters. The aim of the study was to create an assessment basis for the filling and placement of soils. Important for this is the knowledge of the geochemical pollutant distribution in the area, which was the focus of the investigation.

Services:

  • Grid sampling of sub-area 5 at 300 metre intervals (149 sampling points)
  • Statistical evaluation of the results provided by the laboratory:
    • Determination of statistical parameters
    • Testing for normal distribution
    • Determination of outlier and extreme values
    • Parameter-related interpolation using Kriging and Inverse Distance Weighted methods (IDW)
  • Presentation of the interpolated data as chemical distribution maps (28 maps)
  • Investigation of conspicuously high substance contents of anthropogenic and geogenic causes
  • Final report
