Vineyard soils of Saxony: Soil overview maps of the Dresden/Meissen wine region

The wine-growing area of Saxony is one of the smallest in the Federal Republic of Germany. Between 2016 and 2018, a large-scale pedological mapping of Saxony's vineyard areas was carried out for the first time.

On the basis of the mapping results provided by the Saxon State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology and additional information on the winegrowing area of Saxony, G.E.O.S. created the map of Saxony's vineyard soils. The map is available on the internet as an extra layer to the digital soil map BK 50 at a scale of 1:50,000.

As part of the project "Vineyard Soils of Saxony", in addition to 28 representative profiles characterising the vineyard soils in the four major vineyards of Saxony, technical contributions were also made for an information brochure on the vineyard soils of Saxony.
